When does the Eastwood Civic Association Meet?

The Eastwood Civic Association generally meets on the first Monday of every month* at 6:30 pm at the E.B. Cape Center, at 4501 Leeland. Our meetings are also made available via Zoom link can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/ECAmeeting

* General attendance meetings are not held in January or July

  • Michael Moritz for Fair for Houston spoke on the petition initiative to make Houston-Galveston Area Council more representative of the population it serves
  • Call to action from President Danielle about Metro’s University BRT corridor plan

  • National Night Out – Park Drive esplanade, tacos and ice cream available, a good turnout about 100 people

  • General Meeting – In-Person Return – East End District President Veronica Chapa Gorczynski discussed the Greater Eastwood Livable Center Study, we had follow up from our Trains Committee and Metro BRT Committee and talked about upcoming National Night Out

JUNE 2022

  • General Meeting – BRT Re-cap, Train numbers and talk about Federal dollars our representatives should target, Spring Fiesta re-cap, Survey findings, Eastwood Park beatification June 18

MAY 2022

  • Spring Fiesta – Held on Park St. Esplanade about 150 people showed up, tacos, ice cream and beverages were available, surveys of neighborhood were taken, elected officials showed up and good times were had by all, great turn out!

APRIL 2022

  • General Meeting – Metro presented about the Bus Rapid Transit line planned for Lockwood Boulevard. We also voted to confirm Board of Directors appointments, and an update was provided on where exactly all those 351 freshly planted trees came from on Lockwood.

MARCH 2022

  • General Meeting – Buffalo Bayou Partnership, with Community Engagement Manager Juan Sorto shared the Buffalo Bayou East master plan, changes to our Board of Directors, as well as a discussion about the current CenterPoint gas main/service line construction taking place in the area.

FEBRUARY 2022

  • General Meeting – HISD Board President & area-resident Judith Cruz, and some candidates for the March 1st primary elections. Discussed master plan improvements to Eastwood Park
