Homes on the 2011 Tour

Here's a sample of the beautiful renovated homes included on the 2011 tour.

Historic Home Tour 2011 Built in 1915, this 1900 square foot, Craftsman home was a Sears Kit Home originally owned by the architect. This home still has many of its original features including the windows, floors, lighting fixtures, and moldings. This breathtaking home was featured as the cover story in the October 2010 issue of Houston House & Home magazine.
Historic Home Tour 2011 This 1500 square foot, Craftsman-style bungalow was built in 1939 originally to house parishioners from the religious community of the Church of the Redeemer. The brick home still features beautifully ornate original light fixtures in the living, dining, and breakfast rooms. All of the windows and screens also remain and operate with the original box attic fan in the center of the home.
Historic Home Tour 2011 This 1,264 square foot Mediterranean Craftsman-style bungalow was custom-built in 1923 to the specifications of Josephine Henderson. In 2002 the home was completely renovated and restored to its original glory, while maintaining its historic architectural style.
Historic Home Tour 2011 Built in 1932 by W. A. Kirby, this 1,500 square foot bungalow is a testament to preservation and renovation. Originally a 900 square foot home, it sustained considerable damage in 2008 from Hurricane Ike. During repairs, the owner added an upstairs master suite and created an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area with vaulted ceilings. The home retained its original brick exterior as well as the original white oak floors throughout.
Historic Home Tour 2011 This American Craftsman bungalow was built in 1919 by Benjamin W. and Ardone Shudde, owners of Shudde’s Southern Hat Company, which is one of Houston’s oldest businesses. The home features a wrap-around porch and an abundance of windows to let in natural light. The custom original wooden front door, mahogany inlay oak floors and unique brick fireplace detail some of this home's individual charm.
Historic Home Tour 2011 A. E. Olson & Brothers Architects and Builders built this Chicago bungalow in 1927. The original brick house is 1,800 square feet and the current owner added the 900 square foot artist studio. Renovated twice, this house still contains many of the original elements, including its quarter-sawn hardwood floors and large, arched double-doorway. A brick path wraps around the exterior made of salvaged brick found on the property.
